In 2012 one US dollar bought about ¥80. In September 2026 it buys about ¥158. The building didn’t get cheaper in yen, but it did in dollars.

Kylin holds a PhD in architecture from Tokyo Tech and has lived in Tokyo for more than fifteen years. Before founding her own company she designed and developed property for Daiwa House, GARDE and the Mitsubishi Estate group, and was the only Chinese-Japanese woman designer on Google’s office design team worldwide. Today her company owns more than ten buildings in Tokyo, and she helps overseas buyers and investment teams buy, finance and run property in Japan.
